A much discussed topic about TERA is its political system. Yet there's alot of players ingame but also many readers who are wondering what this political system actually is all about.

As its name suggests, the political system includes a huge spectrum of activities that one needs to undertake if they wish to enjoy it to the greatest degree. The average player will be able to feel the effects of the political system on the various towns outside the main cities.
Main cities such as Velika, Castanica, Allemantheia and Kaiator naturally include skill trainers and other NPC's. Towns though not necessarily will have these NPC's and an elected official has the option to enable or disable various NPC's and also to declare certain zones peace zones or open pvp ones. Other special NPC's are the "luxury vendors" that among others sell the powders required for enchanting weapons and armors beyond "+3".
Benefits for winning elections are setting taxes ranging from 1% to 15% on transactions and also special mounts !
A policy set up by a Vanarch can vary from region to region, allowing for a unique profile to be applied on for the duration of their rule.
The Political System is being split in three phases:
-Registration Phase
-Voting Phase
-Ruling Phase
There's a total of 15 regions that are available to candidates.
Island of Dawn
Ostgarath
Arcadia
Val Aureum
Val Parada
Val Elenium
Val Kaeli
Val Tirkai
Poporia
Westonia
Essenia
Veritas
Sylvanoth
Lorcada
Helkan
A candidate is a Leader of a Guild who has their character level 50 or above and 3000 gold together with 100 Cathanarch awards (gained by completing Guild quests) are required as submission fee.
Players can vote for 1 region only on a specific server and they need to be 20 levels or above.
The interesting part is the preparation of candidates and it is not only interesting due to the features linked to the political system but also because of the fact that the community is fresh and it is going to be an intruiging thing to see what candidates will prove to be successful.
How many are going to stay true to their promises, how many will be able to fullfil their agendas ? In order to take actions on a Vanarch level, special points are required and to get those, specific quests need to get completed, so all of the Guild needs to work on them to supply the Vanarch with the necessary points.
The campaigns can and have taken various forms. Certain Guilds organize ingame events, mostly tournaments with various awards. Others prepared special videos and others depend on their name within the community that they created while participating in forum discussions and competitions.
It has been a while since politics played a major role in any of the lately created MMORPG's, so we will surely be surprised all in all with both the campaigns and the outcome !
